An Honorary Member of the God Squad!!

Psalms 51:10-12  Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.
Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me.
Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit
Revelation 4:11  Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.
I really can’t believe that I have forgotten, a Bible verse, when sung to the Lord, causes Him to move on the behalf of the one singing. I really don’t think that there is a limit, on singing Bible verses. I don’t think that I had found the magical, three pieces of scripture to sing. I actually believe when any part, of the Bible is referred back to God, that it opens the gates of Heaven. I really don’t think that it matters where you sing, quote, pray, or read the scriptures, back to Jesus, Holy Spirit, or Father. I believe all this actions get immediate attention in Heaven.
The first thing that we should realize is that the Holy Scriptures are alive, and completely living. Want proof? Have you ever known to anything, which has been touched by God to remain dead? Other than that, the same verse of scripture might mean one thing to you today, and totally different tomorrow.  2Timothy 3:16  All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:       Hebrews 4:12  For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
This is what Wesley’s commentary had to say about Hebrews 4:12. Is living and powerful - Attended with the power of the living God, and conveying either life or death to the hearers. Sharper than any two - edged sword - Penetrating the heart more than this does the body. Piercing - Quite through, and laying open. The soul and spirit, joints and marrow - The inmost recesses of the mind, which the apostle beautifully and strongly expresses by this heap of figurative words. And is a discerner - Not only of the thoughts, but also of the intentions.
I have got to be honest with you. I have placed all my eggs in the same basket, with our Creator. I am “Sold Out,” in the belief, that the Bible is truly the Word of God. I’ve heard that it has been said, that there are older books than the Bible. All I have to say about that is fantastic!! Now getting back to what I believe is the Word of God.
I love the Old Testament stories that even defy the laws of good common sense. (2Kings 6:5-7 floating axe head) (The sixth chapter of the book of Joshua, The walls fell) (Numbers 22, the talking donkey) Have you ever considered the story of Elijah? This bad boy was one of the original warriors, in the God Squad!! (1Kings 18:17) While talking with King Ahab. Ahab accuses Elijah of being the one that was troubling Israel and Elijah just lowers the boom on the King saying, that he was the one, and not Elijah.
If you cannot tell, Elijah had a small problem. He knew who he was, and Whose he was!! The last time that he stood before this king had been three years ago, when he commanded that no rain would fall in Israel. Three years later Elijah is putting the King in his place.
I would have to say, that the story, that I can never hear enough with Elijah is found, in the same chapter of 1 Kings. It is the one where Elijah has had about all that he can stand, with the prophets of Baal. There is only four-hundred and fifty, and he issues a challenge to them. Let’s set up for a sacrifice. You will set up for the gods of Baal, and I will set up for the Living God. You go ahead and dress your bull for the sacrifice, and lay out your wood underneath the bull. Then call on you god to bring the fire down to consume the sacrifice.
These prophets did as Elijah requested, and started calling of the god of Baal to bring down the fire.  They did this from morning until noon time, and then Elijah started to taunt them, and make fun of them. Now keep this in the back of your mind, those there prophets had him severely out number by four-hundred and fifty to one. They could have killed him at any time, but they didn’t. The harder that he would aggravate them, the more that they would call out, and cut themselves!!
I wonder if Elijah was singing Psalms to Father, while he patiently gave the prophets time to give out, on their call to Baal? This was a bold warrior in the advancement of God in the Old Testament. Father is a powerful force to reckon with, and He will not be handled, or contained by anyone!! If we could receive just a small part of the revelation that Elijah possessed, this would be a different world in which we live in.
What is that?  How does this story end?   This is the best part of all. Elijah repaired an old broken down alter to the Living God. He placed twelve stones at the base, and piles the wood high on the stones. He dug a trench around the entire alter, and prepared the bull for the sacrifice. Then he talk those spectators hanging around to fill four barrels full of water, and pour it onto the alter. Then he told them to do it two more times. That was a total of twelve barrels of water, soaking the entire alter, and the trench was full. 1Ki 18:36  And it came to pass at the time of the offering of the evening sacrifice, that Elijah the prophet came near, and said, LORD God of Abraham, Isaac, and of Israel, let it be known this day that thou art God in Israel, and that I am thy servant, and that I have done all these things at thy word.
1Ki 18:37  Hear me, O LORD, hear me, that this people may know that thou art the LORD God, and that thou hast turned their heart back again.
1Ki 18:38  Then the fire of the LORD fell, and consumed the burnt sacrifice, and the wood, and the stones, and the dust, and licked up the water that was in the trench. 1Ki 18:39  And when all the people saw it, they fell on their faces: and they said, The LORD, he is the God; the LORD, he is the God.
That was not the end of the story. He called for the capture of the four-hundred and fifty prophets. When they had all be captured they took them down beside the brook, and Elijah killed every one of them!! Elijah had a great day in the Lord, but he had one more thing to do; He needed to taunt the King one more time.
1Ki 18:41  And Elijah said unto Ahab, Get thee up, eat and drink; for there is a sound of abundance of rain
Wouldn’t you say that Elijah was an honorary member of the God Squad?
