Last
night I watched this movie, from back in the mid-eighties called, “A moment
after.” I don’t think that I ever had seen this movie, because during the time
that it came out I was invisible. At least I thought that I was, because God
and I had parted ways. I no longer wanted anything to do with God, and I didn’t
feel that he was trusty worthy. Don’t
shot me down, because I am just telling it like it was!!
This movie was about the rapture. The rapture is when Jesus calls
the children of God, out of this world. In the book of First Thessalonians we
learn of this, and the key word is caught
up. The word rapture does not appear in the Bible, but the meaning of
rapture is to be caught up 1Thessalonians 4:16-17 For
the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the
archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: 4:17 Then
we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in
the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
That
is the short but complete version of the rapture, and back to the movie, about
this glorious and tragic event. I don’t know why, but I have never considered
the tragedy of those left behind. There was this scene where a wife and her
husband were talking, about going to church. He was a Christian, and she
wasn’t. They had two children, and they came to the father with a book of
Bibles stories, that they wanted him to read to them.
That
is when the mother asks the daughter if she had brushed her teeth. The young
girl ran to the bathroom screaming for the father to read loud. The young boy
sat in his father’s lap, as the father got ready to read. All this time the
mother is full of joy, at the way her family has turned out. As she is standing
in the doorway justa grinning, suddenly the father, and the child looked up, at
the same time. Then the daddy looked at his wife, with a sad look on his face,
as this bright white light engulfed the two, and they vanished.
The
look on this woman’s face was nothing but pure horror!! She ran to the chair
where they had been sitting, and there was nothing but the clothes that they
were wearing. She frantically rushed to the bathroom while screaming her head
off!! Nothing was there except the clothes that here daughter was wearing, and
a toothbrush in the sink. This woman wound up in the psych ward, with both her
wrist cut!!
I
reckon that I am selfish and self-centered at times, because I have never
looked at this in this light. I never considered seeing a person that you love,
in both of these ways. The man deeply loved this woman, and desired that she
would go along. At the time that he heard the blast of the trumpet, he quickly
realized what was happening. By the time that he looked at her, he started to
vanish before her eyes.
This
woman knew what had happened, because her husband had talked about the rapture.
She went into denial, and just wandered off from the home, not to return. When
the F.B.I., found her she was in the ward.
Don’t
you understand how tragic it would be, to witness a loved one, simply vanish,
before you? I think that it could be enough to make you lose your mind. If you
didn’t go completely nuts, then I don’t think that you would ever be the same.
Father didn’t create us to be a bunch of basket cases. He does not intend, for
us to witness such calamity, in our lives. At the time of the rapture, the
entire world will be in total chaos. Planes will fall from the sky. Trains will
run off of the track, and collide with each other. There will be all manner of
land vehicles crashing, and causing even more destruction. There will be ships
at sea left without their captain, and crew. The hospitals around the world
will be severely understaffed, in a moment’s notice. There will be folks that
disappear that you never thought that would, and people that don’t that you thought
that surely would go.
There
is a way to avoid this entire calamity. You can be on the first trip out the
door. I am going to make this simple. It is called the ABC’s of Salvation. (A)
Admit that you are a sinner, and separated from the Father (B) Believe that
Jesus Christ shed blood, on the cross, was for the redemption of your sins. (C)
Confess…Confess you sins to Jesus, then confess that Jesus Christ is Lord over
your life!!
It
don’t matter how you word this, or what language that you speak your prayer in.
The only thing that matters is that you do this from the very bottom of your
heart. After you pray this prayer, prepare to go on the journey of your life.
You will learn just how cool the Jesus really is, and how much better that your
life is now that you are a part, of the family. Welcome home my brothers and
sisters!!
……Much Love
