We
live in a pitiful world today, with everything going against the
will, of our great Creator. Being a resident of the United States, I
believe that we are the worst ones, in rebellion, of a Holy God. I
used to think that other countries were ungodly countries, then I
woke up, and took a look at my country realizing that, we are as
godless as any. The fact that we are godless is not true, because
we have way too many god’s, in our nation. The one true God
probably, ranks close to last, in our worship.
What
do those that still love, and worship our creator do, during these
dark times? Should we Spiritually retreat, from the war zone, and
worship the Lord in private? After all, we as believers have read the
Word of God, and know that we win in the end. Why should we continue
to stick our Spiritual neck out, anywhere near, the chopping block?
Can
you say frustrated? Sometimes it don’t really matter how much we
know about the end of life on the earth. We all know that we win, and
we all know that, our new home awaits us in Heaven, and it is just a
matter of time, before it become a reality. What is the solution to
engaging in battle every day, and not giving up, because of
frustration?
I
believe that the reason, that we get frustrated, and suffer
Spiritually burn-out is the same culprit. We get out of focus,
because of looking at the big picture, for too long. Let’s start
with looking at the Lord prayer, found in the book of Matthew,
chapter six, and verse eleven.
Matthew
6:11 Give
us this day our daily bread.
I
know that this is a simple illustration, but often times we need to
keep in simple. In this verse, we are asking the Lord to supply, our
daily requirements. We know that we are not sufficient in ourselves
to even take care of our needs, for one day. We are totally relying
on Jesus to meet our needs for today, and today only.
Do
you realize that it is a sin, to focus on too broad, of a spectrum?
Our focus should be on the things before us right now. Doing the
first things, as we come to them. We have no need to worry about
where our next meal will be coming from, or the clothes that we will
be wearing, or even what we will be doing. We are to seek the Kingdom
of God first in our lives, and His righteousness, and all these other
things will added unto us. (Matthew 6:33)
Matthew
6:34 Take
therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take
thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day
is
the
evil thereof.
I
want to give you one more example, of keeping our focus, on the here
and now. For this one I want to use the Apostle Peter. I love the
character of Peter, because it is a lot like mine used to be. I use
that word, “used” to be very cautiously, because at times I am
still that way. Peter often spoke before, he thought about what he
was saying, and acted before he considered his actions.
This
event in the life of Peter took place in his boat, while a storm was
surrounding Peter, and the other disciples. They had just spotted
Jesus walking on the water, in the storm. I don’t have a clue what
Peter was thinking, or if he was even thinking, when he called out to
Jesus. He said Lord, if that really be you, then bid me come to you.
I
can guarantee you that, Peter had never seen, another person walking,
on the top of the water, other than Jesus, on that very night. It
wasn’t the first time that Peter had been in a storm either, so he
understood the conditions were dangerous. All that it took for Peter
to hop out of the boat, and start heading toward Jesus, was Jesus
simply saying to come. The Word doesn’t tell us how far that Peter
walked on the water. I guess that was not really that important, at
the time, but it does tell us what happened.
Matthew
14:30 But
when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to
sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me.
If
he had only kept his eyes on Jesus, I believe that the story would
have turned out differently. The wind howling, and the waves crashing
was too much for Peter to handle. He allowed fear to creep into his
Spirit, and began to sink. I can’t blame him though, because I
probably would have done the same thing. Just the sheer excitement of
walking on the water, probably would have done me in!!
Getting
back to the beginning; the battle still rages forward. Whether we
participate in the war at hand, or not, will not change the outcome.
If we allow ourselves to get over-whelmed, and sit down, with our
head between our knees, admitting total defeat, the only thing that,
it will change is how we see ourselves. If we say that we are
defeated, then surely we are defeated. (Proverbs 23:7)
There
is a solution though, and we can all do this;
Ephesians
6:10 Finally,
my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.
We
can all be strong in the Lord, and the awesome power of His might!!
By ourselves we can’t even kick Satan up-side his nasty head,
because apart from Jesus we can do nothing. All that we need is
Jesus, and the victory is guaranteed!! Ain’t Jesus Awesome?
