Do you put yourself, in the
place of the characters in the Bible, while you are reading the Bible? Maybe I am assuming, that all of the readers,
of this blog, also read the Bible. Do you realize how many folks, which call
themselves Christians, and never read the Word of God? I am not talking about a
few verses, on Sunday, while the preacher asks us to turn to a certain
scripture, that he is preaching from. I am talking about purposely, sitting down, purposely,
taking the Word, purposely, and begin
a study, where you are being led.
I will imagine that I lost
some of y’all, when I used that word purposely, three times. If we are going to
live the life of a Christian, it will be on purpose. Why do you think, that it is so
difficult at times? If you don’t feel,
that living the Christian life is difficult, if not downright, hard at times,
then my friend, you must not be living it right. I say that, because temptation is never easy.
If you don’t suffer from temptation, that is a good sign that you are on the
wrong side of the battle!!
There are fifteen verses in
the Bible, where the word temptation is used, and Jesus personally speaks, that
Word eight times. Did you
realize, that temptation is such a problem, that it is spoken of in, what we
call the Lord’s Prayer?
Matthew 6:13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil:
For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
The Lord’s Prayer is a
basic model, of the issues, that we should pray about, when we come to the
Father in prayer. I don’t think that I will get into how often, that we should
pray, but Holy Spirit said yes. Yes, it is that important, because without
prayer, we actually have no hope of victory, in the battle. Oh precious reader, please pay close
attention, because Holy Spirit doesn’t waste His time with foolishness. We are
in a continuous battle, and that is how we should pray.
Ephesians 6:18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the
Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all
saints;
Jesus realized that
temptation would be a great issue, for the children of God. That is because He
was tempted by the Devil. The same Devil who is responsible, for our
temptation. Do you realize that Christians,
who are trying their best to walk, in the will of God, are the only ones, that
have to deal with temptation? That is why I said, at the beginning, that
something is wrong, if there is no temptation. The Word says that Jesus was
tempted in every area that we are tempted.
1Corinthians 10:13 There hath no temptation taken you but such
as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be
tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to
escape, that ye may be able to bear it.
I have gotten so far off
from what I started to write, but it doesn’t matter. I am telling the story, of
the greatest person, which has ever existed. There is no hope for anybody on
this earth, except for Jesus Christ. It is really heart breaking, that very few
will come to that realization. I am not going by my own thoughts on this fact,
and it is a fact, because Jesus said that it is true.
Matthew 7:14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow
is the way,
which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.
Over the past few years, I
have been in this, growing love relationship with Jesus. Each and every day it
intensifies, and along with this relationship, comes more pressure from Satan.
I would like to tell you that, I never have failed, in avoiding the temptation,
but that would be a lie. I believe that John was probably the closest person to
Christ. He has a way of simply, writing the way, of the Lord direct, and to the
point.
1John 1:8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive
ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
The writings of John are
awesome!! I don’t know when John
believed, that Jesus was the messiah sent, by the Father, to save those, that
would believe on Him. I don’t believe that, the Word states a certain time. I
do know, that if Jesus ever made an appearance without John being present, that
He simply had to leave John behind. John
set the example for us. If we want to be close to Jesus, then we have the
responsibility to stay close to Him. It is not written anywhere, in the Word
where Jesus, took off after one, that had been offended. John makes it clear in
his writings, where Jesus says that, no one comes to Him, unless they are drawn
by the Father. (John 6:44) John also makes it clear, that we have only one hope,
for the forgiveness of sin.
1John 2:1 My little children, these things write I
unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the
Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:
Please don’t be confused,
because a lot of people believe, that thoughts of temptation is a sin. It is
not the thoughts, unless you entertain these thoughts. However, it is when we
pass through the thoughts, and proceed in the action of doing these things.
That is the point that it becomes sin. When I admitted, that I have failed at,
giving into temptation while ago, and posted 1st John 1:8 that was
not the ending of John writing. He actually had two more verses that I would
like to share with you.
1John 1:9-10 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and
just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
10
If we
say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.
Sometimes as human
beings, we can forget why we came, to Christ to begin with, and that is the
fact, that we were covered with sin. If Jesus was the only solution, for our sin problem,
then what is it that makes us think, that there is another solution available
now? You know what I am saying….. Jesus is Awesome!!
….Much Love
