How are you doing
today? I opened up a can of worms with
that last post. There were so many, and are so many different directions, that
we will travel after receiving our Salvation. The great thing is that they all
are needed to make us fit, to be in service, to our Lord and Savior.
Now, let me make this
perfectly clear; I am not picking through the bones of your Salvation, and
saying that you won’t go to Heaven, if you don’t do these things. If I am
saying any statement like that, this will be it. Why would you not want to be used, in
the service to your Lord? After all
that Jesus has done for you……
Moving on…the first
thing that I want to do is bring up a couple verses, to express what is going
on, in our lives. Leviticus 20:7
Sanctify yourselves therefore,
and be ye holy: for I am the LORD your God. Isn’t
there something in your flesh, which makes you cringe at the word Holy?
Honestly, that is one of the most dreaded definitions of God for me. I am so
far from the word Holy, that it simply doesn’t fit in my character.
In this verse there is
a clue to how, that we can achieve the status of being Holy. Do you see it? It says sanctify ourselves, and then being
Holy is a possibility. However, in the next verse there is another clue to how
to sanctify ourselves. Leviticus 20:8 And ye shall keep my statutes, and do them: I am
the LORD which sanctify you.
Wow!! Is that all that we need to do is keep
Fathers statues, and do them?
Sweet!! Oh no!! Wait a minute. How many are there? I’m about to think that it don’t matter,
because Adam, and Eve only had one, and we know what happened there!! JESUS!! JESUS!!
HELP!!
Ok, before anybody
freaks out, and runs away, I need to say a few things. The process of
sanctification is not something most people do over-night. I don’t believe
anybody has done this over-night. It is however, a gradual change through a
series of states. (Sage Dictionary) This process starts right where we are at
now, and the target that we are shooting for is Holiness.
Let’s look at a few different definitions for sanctify,
sanctification, and sanctified, from the old Webster’s. 1. In a general sense, to cleanse,
purify or make holy. 2. To separate, set apart or appoint to a holy, sacred or
religious use. 5. To cleanse from corruption; to purify from sin; to make holy
be detaching the affections from the world and its defilements, and exalting
them to a supreme love to God.
This is a great verse
of encouragement to proceed in the sanctification process. 2Thessalonians
2:13 But we are bound to give thanks alway to
God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning
chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the
truth: The God that we love, and
serve is perfect in every way, and this includes His decision making processes.
So relax, and get aboard the next phase of your Christianity!!
Here is another verse
where Lord Jesus is on our side in this event. 1Corinthians 1:30 But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of
God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and
redemption:
I can’t tell you where
to start in this process, because we are all different people. Jesus has as
many different plans as we are people, for each one of us. What I would suggest
that you do is spend so time with Holy Spirit alone. Tell Him that you are
ready to either get started, or to continue on. If we and I am including myself
in this statement, if we ever really realize the power of God, and His love for
us, it would be life changing!! We would never be the same.
Can I share something,
which will make this easier, for all of us to make this conversion? If you will remember that everything about
our Christian walk breaks down to a common denominator. The most common
denominator is always our Lord. However, the second most common denominator
always,……listen closely now. This
is one of those revelations that set the captives free!! IT’S ALWAYS ABOUT THE RELATIONSHIP!! The
closer that we walk, causes the transition to go a lot smoother.
Ain’t God good?
….Much Love
