Complete in Moral Character

One of the most amazing things about God is the fact, that He loves me. Most of my life, I have not acted all that well. Now that I am acting better, I sure haven’t reached the qualification, of being Holy. I can’t even phantom the thought, of what it is to be Holy. My small, tiny mind is not equipped, with enough information, to conceive what Holy is, in this finite structure.

We can find in three scriptures of the Bible, where God states that He is Holy, and we should also be Holy. Once in the book of Leviticus, and twice in the book of first Peter, is this verse found. That is a tall order of a commandment!!

Leviticus 20:7  Sanctify yourselves therefore, and be ye holy: for I am the LORD your God.
1Peter 1:15, 16  But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; 16  Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.

However, I would love to share with you what Noah Webster’s dictionary of 1828 has to say about Holy. Things were different back in the early 1800’s. The things that were concerning God’s were God’s, and the political correctness was formed, around those things, that were of God. Almost two-hundred years later, we have got so far away from the things of God, and almost every sin has become accepted, as common everyday practice.

Holy
HO'LY, a.

1. Properly, whole, entire or perfect, in a moral sense. Hence, pure in heart, temper or dispositions; free from sin and sinful affections. Applied to the Supreme Being, holy signifies perfectly pure, immaculate and complete in moral character; and man is more or less holy, as his heart is more or less sanctified, or purified from evil dispositions. We call a man holy, when his heart is conformed in some degree to the image of God, and his life is regulated by the divine precepts. Hence, holy is used as nearly synonymous with good, pious, godly.
2. Hallowed; consecrated or set apart to a sacred use, or to the service or worship of God; a sense frequent in Scripture; as the holy sabbath; holy oil; holy vessels; a holy nation; the holy temple; a holy priesthood.
3. Proceeding from pious principles,or directed to pious purposes; as holy zeal.
4. Perfectly just and good; as the holy law of God.5. Sacred; as a holy witness.

That sure doesn’t sound a thing like me!!    Complete in moral character?    I know that my moral character has come a long way, since Jesus has taken over. I just can’t really see the word complete, can being used to describe me.

However, do you notice the difference, in the dictionary from 1828, and the dictionaries that we use today?   They are using the name of God, as if He really existed back then!! I can tell you folks those were different days. It was ok to use the name of the Lord in ways, other than taking His name in vein. The only time, the name of the Lord is sociably acceptable, in today’s world, is when it is being used in the form, of a cuss word. How much further, will God allow this to go on?

While we’re on the role with Holy; I know that the only way that Father can see us as Holy, is when He looks through the blood of Jesus at us. Father can’t even look upon us, without that precious blood, covering over us as a veil. This generation is full of zombie, and vampire lovers, but don’t want to even talk about, the shed blood of Jesus, on the cross. They cry that kind of talk offends them, and that it is not necessary to speak, in such a manner.

They are trying to overrule the Creator of everything that we know, and that includes us. They don’t like the way that He set up the system that we live in. they simply don’t like anything about it, and are rebelling at everything involved with creation. If Father says that we are sinners, then the best thing that we can do is agree with Him, because we are sinners. If Father said that He has a solution for our sin problem, then the best thing that we can do is thank Him, and ask what the solution is.

If Father says that a blood sacrifice is the only thing that will appease Him, then we should be willing to offer Him one.   Hold on James!!   That is going too far now!!    I thought that was what Jesus came to this earth to do?        Yes,…that is right.            It is not like Father would accept our offer to sacrifice ourselves, but we don’t have to, because of Jesus.    Jesus has paid our sin debt in full, and all we have to do is acknowledge that He shed His blood, on the cross, in our behalf. Most of us can’t even do that much!!

You know, I hate to say this, but it is the truth.  I have a friendly relationship with folks that know about Jesus. They know what that He done, in the place of them, and they know all the benefits, of what He has done. They have spent several months, under very good Bible teaching, of the truth. A few of them have been through two years of Spiritual training, in the same program that I went through, and still don’t have any use for Jesus.

I don’t understand how this can be. They will not talk about Jesus, and if they do it is like some guy, that they met once. There is no relationship there at all and certainly, no real concern of need. These are not normal people, because they had rather smoke crack cocaine, and drink alcohol, but not all of them are like that. They will sit through a church service, if they can get fed, or something to eat to take with them. However, nothing about God moves them.

I wonder if they have crossed the line, and been turned over, to a reprobate mind, talked about in Romans one?

      ….Much Love
