I often sit and think,
about one of the choices, which our Father has made concerning me. I am sure
that most Christians….I really can’t use that word here, because the word Christian
implies two different schools of thought. The first class of the real, true
Christians includes those that have really accepted, what Jesus has done for
them, and tries their best through the power of Holy Spirit to die daily.
The other classes are
those, that call themselves Christians, and have no fruit, in their lives
confirming the fact that they know God. The churches are full of these types,
and they rarely miss a service. The dress the best, and blend in very well.
They have reached the highest place, of comfortable deception, that Satan can
place them under.
Jesus talked about these
folks in the book of Matthew. He was telling the story of the w
Tares
The bearded darnel, mentioned only in Mat_13:25-30.
It is the Lolium temulentum, a species of rye-grass, the seeds of which are a
strong soporific poison. It bears the closest resemblance to wheat till the ear
appears, and only then the difference is discovered. It grows plentifully in
Syria and Palestine.
In the story the servants
came to their master inquiring what to do with the tares. The solution has
great significance in today’s church. Let’s see what the Master said.
Matthew 13:29 But he said, Nay; lest while ye gather up the
tares, ye root up also the wheat with them.
I find this concept
totally mind blowing. First off I need to tell you that the only field of
wheat, which I have ever seen has been of pictures or video. I know from what I
have saw that the fields are massive, and the wheat is grown close together. It
would take a lot of work, to go through a field of wheat, gathering up the
tares. This should scream volumes about the work ethics of that day.
I wonder why the Master
said that you will root up the wheat along with the tares. Was it because the
highly trained professionals, of that day, could not distinguish the
difference, or was it something different?
I think that it was something different. Jesus is telling this parable
only for us to learn something. The
wheat represents the Christians, and the tares represent the ungodly. I honest
believe that the field represents the church. It could also represent the world,
but I can’t get that to settle as truth in my Spirit. The church makes much
more sense to me.
Let’s go ahead, and jump
right to the next verse. Matthew
13:30 Let both grow
together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the
reapers, Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn
them: but gather the wheat into my barn.
Now that everything has
been laid out in front of us, and the truth has been revealed. I want to go
back to the first verse, and poke around, in the hope of stirring up a
reaction. I really think that I understand this concept from a farmer’s point
of view. However, I find it more important to see this, from the point of view
of Jesus. Why would the Christians be rooted up
with the ungodly, in the setting of the church?
Could it be a problem with
our focus? Why do we go to church or
a service, of worship anyway? Are we
going to see, and be seen? It is true
that in most services of worship there are a lot of distractions to grab our
attention. The larger the church, the more distractions there are available.
This can be a problem itself, but I am getting off track.
I need to get back to the
point, of why the ungodly, in the church can rock a Christians faith down to
their roots!! I believe it is because we
can’t tell the difference. They pretty much show up, and act in the same way.
They pray at times, with large swelling tears, and an Amen is not uncommon, to
be on their lips. They do act like true Christians on the surface level, and
fill every office in the church, which includes the pastoral seat!!
Oh,.. Don’t shout me down while I am
preaching good!!
There is nobody that can
shake your faith, or hurt you feelings, or do great damage to you, like those
that you have learned to trust. The reason that we do this is so simple, and so
basic. It goes to the true core of our inner being as Christians. It is who we
are, and what we are made of.
1John 4:7-8 Beloved, let us love one another: for love
is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.:8 He that loveth
not knoweth not God; for God is love.
We are the children of
love, and when we love, we also hand over our trust. If we don’t love, and
simply cannot love, then we have a severe situation at hand. Can you see the love, and compassion of
these verses? It truly shows the love of
our Creator on all of His creation. The first love is bestows on the ungodly,
because Father leaves them, in the presence, of the Christian. He leaves them
in a position of conversion, until the day of harvest.
As Christians we realize
that everything that our God does is an act of love. 1John
4:16 And we have
known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that
dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him.
I needed to come back and
add this little bit, because I didn’t want to leave it hanging. If we can’t
tell the difference in the Christians, and the ungodly in the church. Often
times when the ungodly fall under the judgment of God, in can make us nervous
or even paranoid at times. Instead of going directly to Father, with our
concerns, we tend to allow our wildest imagination to run wild. The great thing
about this is it’s just another training process, in which we learn to trust
God. Ain’t God Awesome?
….Much Love
