A Tasty Little Bird

Being raised in North Alabama I don’t think, that I will ever get used to Christmas time in Florida. Although, this time of the year is why most of us live here. It certainly can’t be the summer time!! I remember a couple Christmas times in Miami where I went swimming, but that was when I first got here. My blood is too thin to swim in December.

Ain’t you glad that the weather outside, don’t have any effect, on the goodness of our God. God is good, all the time, and all the time, God is good!! In the twenty-eighth chapter of Deuteronomy the first fourteen verses explain to us how good Father is to us.'!

Deuteronomy 28:1-2  And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to observe and to do all his commandments which I command thee this day, that the LORD thy God will set thee on high above all nations of the earth: 2  And all these blessings shall come on thee, and overtake thee, if thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God.

The children had already seen such miracles performed on their behalf. They saw the Red Sea part allowing them to go through, then swallow the Egyptian Army as that tried to pursue them. They had seen rocks spew forth enough water to quench their thirst, and water the animal, that were with them. They were fed the food from Heaven called manna. When they complained that they had no meat to eat, their camp was filled with quail.

Exodus 16:12-13  I have heard the murmurings of the children of Israel: speak unto them, saying, At even ye shall eat flesh, and in the morning ye shall be filled with bread; and ye shall know that I am the LORD your God. 13  And it came to pass, that at even the quails came up, and covered the camp: and in the morning the dew lay round about the host.

Ain’t God good?    That is how much that Father loves His creation. Even though they were complaining about the bread from Heaven, Father gave them quail to eat. I can’t say that I have ever tasted manna; however, quail is a tasty little bird to eat!! I would think that they are doing alright.
Getting Back to Deuteronomy 28; Father told them in verse two that all these blessings shall come on, and overtake you, if you will obey His Word.

Deu 28:3-6  Blessed shalt thou be in the city, and blessed shalt thou be in the field. 4  Blessed shall be the fruit of thy body, and the fruit of thy ground, and the fruit of thy cattle, the increase of thy kine, and the flocks of thy sheep. 5  Blessed shall be thy basket and thy store. 6  Blessed shalt thou be when thou comest in, and blessed shalt thou be when thou goest out.

As great as all this sounds, this is just the beginning of the promise, which Father was making. The real deal was Father wanted to be everything that His children needed for Him to be. It seems like if any common sense were involved, that they would have obeyed His Word.

Deu 28:7-14  The LORD shall cause thine enemies that rise up against thee to be smitten before thy face: they shall come out against thee one way, and flee before thee seven ways. 8  The LORD shall command the blessing upon thee in thy storehouses, and in all that thou settest thine hand unto; and he shall bless thee in the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee. 9  The LORD shall establish thee an holy people unto himself, as he hath sworn unto thee, if thou shalt keep the commandments of the LORD thy God, and walk in his ways. 10  And all people of the earth shall see that thou art called by the name of the LORD; and they shall be afraid of thee. 11  And the LORD shall make thee plenteous in goods, in the fruit of thy body, and in the fruit of thy cattle, and in the fruit of thy ground, in the land which the LORD sware unto thy fathers to give thee. 12  The LORD shall open unto thee his good treasure, the heaven to give the rain unto thy land in his season, and to bless all the work of thine hand: and thou shalt lend unto many nations, and thou shalt not borrow.13  And the LORD shall make thee the head, and not the tail; and thou shalt be above only, and thou shalt not be beneath; if that thou hearken unto the commandments of the LORD thy God, which I command thee this day, to observe and to do them: 14  And thou shalt not go aside from any of the words which I command thee this day, to the right hand, or to the left, to go after other gods to serve them.

I have almost run out of space, so I need to cut to the chase. Have you ever had anybody that loves you like our Creator loves us? I hope you realize that this offer is still as valid, as it was back then, with one exception. When Father originally made this offer it was for the Jewish folks only. Since the cross of Jesus Christ it is open to all that believe.

John 3:16  For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

The next fifty-four verses are telling the curses that will come upon us if we don’t obey the words of the Lord. Don’t you find it strange that there are fifty-four verses of curses, and only fourteen verses of blessings?  Please read this chapter in its entirety. This might be a soul winning chapter, for those around us, which are living under these curses.

     ….Much Love
