Elisha: A Man of Great Wisdom

Sometimes I get into a funk, and am not sure what to write. Although, I do understand that God is really good to His children. Father can make a way, when we don’t see a way to be made. He can open the doors, which we need to be opened, at times that we can’t even see a door present. Our Father is always at work for us, behind the scenes, of our lives.

One my favorite stories, of God working behind the scenes, were with Elisha. Elisha had followed closely to Elijah, and when he was taken up, Elijah cast his mantle on Elisha. That meant that Elisha would carry on the great ministry that Elijah had started. I personally feel that these two walked so close to God, that Father would not deny them of anything, which they ask.

Getting back to this story it was a time of war between Syria, and Israel. This is the same war, conflict, or any way that you care to describe it, between the sons of Abraham, that is still going on today.
The Syrian King sent forth a spy to see, why the Israeli Army, was always one step ahead of their plans. When the spy reported back, that Elisha was informing the Israeli King, what Father had been telling him. The King of Syria knew that he had no power over God, so he planned to take out His messenger Elisha. I think that this King of Syria was acting paranoid, because of the great force that he sent to capture Elisha. Then again, maybe he had remembered trying to mess with the plans of Father before. Let’s look to the scriptures, and see what they say.

2Kings 6:14-16  Therefore sent he thither horses, and chariots, and a great host: and they came by night, and compassed the city about. :15  And when the servant of the man of God was risen early, and gone forth, behold, an host compassed the city both with horses and chariots. And his servant said unto him, Alas, my master! how shall we do? :16  And he answered, Fear not: for they that be with us are more than they that be with them.

This servant could not see the things, which Elisha was seeing.  2Kings 6:17  And Elisha prayed, and said, LORD, I pray thee, open his eyes, that he may see. And the LORD opened the eyes of the young man; and he saw: and, behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha.

I think that this is an awesome way to handle these enemies of Israel. Father had more warriors all over the mountain behind the enemy, and the where just waiting on the word, to come from Elisha. All the Syrians, which had come to capture Elisha, had suddenly become they prey, and their destiny now laid, in the words of Elisha!!

2Kings 6:18  And when they came down to him, Elisha prayed unto the LORD, and said, Smite this people, I pray thee, with blindness. And he smote them with blindness according to the word of Elisha. (I bet that they didn’t see that coming!!) Truthfully, I would have thought that he would have taken a different approach. We need to go back to the Word, and see how this ends.

2Ki 6:19-20  And Elisha said unto them, This is not the way, neither is this the city: follow me, and I will bring you to the man whom ye seek. But he led them to Samaria. 20  And it came to pass, when they were come into Samaria, that Elisha said, LORD, open the eyes of these men, that they may see. And the LORD opened their eyes, and they saw; and, behold, they were in the midst of Samaria.  Wow!!  Elisha has tricks!!  Another thing that Elisha has is compassion in the presence of a blood thirsty King.

2Ki 6:21-22  And the king of Israel said unto Elisha, when he saw them, My father, shall I smite them? shall I smite them? 22  And he answered, Thou shalt not smite them: wouldest thou smite those whom thou hast taken captive with thy sword and with thy bow? set bread and water before them, that they may eat and drink, and go to their master.
It doesn’t actually give the number of the men sent to capture Elisha. It only refers to a great host. It really doesn’t matter of the number either, because they would not have been more, than Father could handle. Elisha was showing his Godly strength, as he showed these men compassion, by not taking their lives. He could have them slaughtered, by the Heavenly Host, if he had chosen to deal with them, in that way.

Let’s see how this ended, because of the wisdom of Elisha.
2Kings 6:23  And he prepared great provision for them: and when they had eaten and drunk, he sent them away, and they went to their master. So the bands of Syria came no more into the land of Israel. I can’t even think, of a more perfect way to end, this hostile situation. Elisha because of his faith in Father prayed a prayer of blindness, to come over the enemy. Then he led them into Samaria, where there were surrounded by the army of Israel. Another prayer opened their eyes once again. Then they were nourished, and set free, to never return.

There ain’t nothing like a plan, when it comes together!!    Ain’t God good?

        ….Much Love
