This week has been
a real challenge for me. Just to be brutally honest with
y'all...............It was bad enough to make a Christian cuss!!
The one that I’m particularly talking about would be me. Even
though Peter was recorded in the Bible for
cussing.......................You know I can't help but laugh,
because peter is one of my hero's. Jesus had His hands full with
Peter......Always!! Peter didn't even have a clue how to think
before he spoke.
Peter was a man
that spent most of his time on a fishing boat. That is the way that
he made a living for his family. I really don't imagine that life on
a fishing boat has changed that much. It's still hard work, and long
hours. Let's please don't forget about that glorious smell that comes
from a hard days fishing. Pee-yew!! Can you imagine the
reality of being alive in Peters time? People back in that time,
especially in that region of the
world.........................Well,..................They really did not care
if they were odoriferous!! That's
right,..........They didn't bathe like we do,................ or some
of us do!!
Like I said
before, Peter was a hand full. Sometimes his bold outspoken comments
were right on time, and other times,.................They didn't fair
so well!! I love the story where Jesus was walking on the
sea. When Peter first laid eye's on Him he shouted out, “
Master,..................If that be you,...............Bid me come to
you!!”
Well,................What
do you reckon was going through his mind at that point and time?
It's really hard to say, but you know what he did next. Peter just
jumped out of that boat like he had been doing that all his life!!
That was fine and dandy, but he got distracted. The wind was blowing
through his hair, and the waves were getting intense. He took his
focus off Jesus, and began to sink.
Then there was
that nasty scene in the garden of Gethsemane. The guard came to
arrest Jesus, and Peter drew his sword, and clipped one of the people present at that time. Now what happened next is way cool................Jesus
picked that dudes ear from the ground, and put it back on Malchus.
Seeing how Malchus
was a servant of the High Priest I really can't say if he was a
fighting machine. My honest guess is …......honestly,.........No.
However, this is a fact that I’m sure
of,................Jesus got his attention!!
OK,.........This
is just my prospective on the matter, because I wasn't present that
night. The way that I see it was Peter whipped out his sword, and
struck the closest thing to him,...........which was malchus. I'm
sure that he was trying to take his head off, because in times like
those there is not any time to play around.
Once Peter launch
into battle,.................It was on!!! The guards quickly
stopped everyone involved, and quickly put a stop to any madness that
might would happen after Peter lashed out.
Meanwhile,....................Jesus reached down while the chaos was
still in progress, and picked Malchus's bloody ear of the ground. He
quickly slide the ear under Malchus hand,.............Where he was
holding the spot where his ear once was in place.
The moment Jesus
laid His hands on Malchus,............................Something
changed!! Malchus eyes met with Jesus
eyes,......................Then suddenly Malchus understood that he
had been touched by the giver of life, and nothing would ever be the
same in his life!!
Jesus never
touched anything dead that didn't come back to life!! There are many
examples in the Bible. Actually,.......The Bible is called the
Living Word of God!! The very words that Jesus spoke are powerful
enough to bring things back to life today!! Do you want a living
