We were a bunch of zombies

The book of Ephesians is a great book to study from. It is full of the wisdom that makes us understand who, and whose that we really are. In chapter two we find a description of what were like in our former lives. Paul wrote this letter to the church at Ephesus to teach them, and to train them, and remind them of where they once were, and the shape that they were in.
For now we are going to concentrate on the first three verses. Paul starts this chapter by saying what the Lord has done for us. He uses the word quickened. Quickened has a varied amount of definitions that concentrate around the meaning of being made alive. Revived, reinvigorated, accelerated, hastened, stimulated, and incited. With all that going on we must have been dead, and that is what the second part of the first verse states. We were dead in trespasses and sins.
It really didn't matter how good that we thought that we were to begin with. It didn't matter how many people loved us, and how much time we volunteered for the sake of the good of humanity. We might have graced the doors of the local church every time that they were opened. We might have even taught a Sunday school class. We might have spent every free moment of our time giving of ourselves, for the betterment of another human being, and still was as dead as the rest of them in that category.
Verse 2 is dedicated to showing us whom was leading us. We were walking according to the course of this world. Following the pied piper who was playing a tune that we could not resist, because we were mesmerized by what it produced. I am going to get graphic one more time simply because, I can't resist this one. I can fit this one right into the world that we live in today.
Father sees us as dead folk. We have no light, and full of darkness. There is nothing good in us according to the standards that He lives by. Picture this if you will. We were a bunch of zombies. Very dead, but still capable of movement, and every thing else based on a carnal existence. We were following the pied piper of this world, and doing anything that he would lead us to do.
We had no living soul inside of us. We had absolutely no Spiritual motivation for the things of God. We were lost in a trap of hopelessness doing what seamed right to do at the time. We followed the desires of our flesh, and we went to great lengths to make sure that we felt good at all times. We kept seeking comfort in meaningless acts of sex. The more sex that we could have, the better that we thought that we were going to be. Every time it left us with the feeling of being more empty inside, than when we first started.
We filled our bodies with different chemicals to change the way that we feel about ourselves. We were never really satisfied with ourselves, or anything concerning out position in life. We drank alcohol, done different drugs, and smoked various forms of tobacco. Some of us did other things in search of the thing was missing from our leader. There was always something missing that he couldn't possibly provide. We gambled, we over shopped, we over indulged in groceries, we engaged in pornography.
Pornography is in no way healthy. Some folks say that it is just other people having sex, but that is just looking on the outside. Taking an inside look is where every thing gets twisted. It causes human beings to sexually abuse their children, and their neighbor children. It causes human being to rape, and sexually assault those that we love. It causes human being to abuse, torture, and kill our parents, spouses, children, and love ones. The worst thing that it does is cause human beings to not resemble human being any longer!!              Does that look like people just having sex to you?
It is a state of total madness the things that Satan will lead us to do!! He doesn't care anything about us as human beings. Actually, he hate us, and everything about us. His mission on the earth is to steal, kill, and destroy. There is not anything good to be found on the inside, or outside of him. He is jealous of us, and has been since the garden of Eden.
The solution to this travesty is found in the fourth verse. Actually, we could stop at the first two words that Paul writes, and that says it all: But God. God, Father, our Creator is where real life can be found. That is the part that is missing on the inside of us. That is the part that keeps that cold north wind from blowing through us. That is the part that is missing by the design of our Creator.
Father when He created us left out the part that gives us real satisfaction. That is the reason that Satan can't satisfy us with anything that he has to offer us. The missing part is Jesus Christ, and the only way to get that missing part is simple. We have to ask for Him to come into our lives, and receive Him as our Lord and savior. He is a true gentleman. He will not force Himself on anybody. He must be invited in of our own free will.             Jesus Christ is truly the gift that keep on giving!!

........Much Love
